Dr. Motavalli Mukaddes is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. She was a faculty member at Istanbul School of Medicine between 1994 and 2013. Her main clinical and research area is neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and ADHD. She is a pioneer in autism research and clinical work in Turkey. She founded the first autism and ADHD clinics at Istanbul School of Medicine, Istanbul University.

She had several responsibilities at Istanbul School of Medicine, including doctoral and residency training programs, conducting numerous research projects, and chairing the department. Now, she continues her academic and clinical work at the Istanbul Institute of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

She has close collaboration with many internationally well-known researchers from Harvard University, the University of Michigan, the University of Connecticut, and many other researchers from Asia and Europe.

She has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and her publications have been cited more than 6,000 times in scientific literature. She is the author of more than 30 book chapters and 7 scientific books, including Autism Spectrum Disorders: Diagnosis and Follow-Up (Third Edition), ADHD and Associated Disorders Across the Lifespan (Second Edition), Autism from Infancy to Adulthood: A Guideline for Families (Second Edition), Neurodevelopmental Disorders Across the Lifespan (Second Edition), Asperger and Autism Beyond the Diagnosis (Second Edition), Parent Training Program for Children with Autism and Developmental Disorders, and Girls and Women with ADHD.

In 2017, she accepted the invitation of the Ministry of Health of Turkey to organize an awareness program for autism. She educated hundreds of child psychiatrists to train 21,000 family doctors for the early identification of autism.

She speaks Turkish, Farsi, Azeri, and English.
